Job Description

The role of a Healthcare Assistant in a full-time capacity is pivotal to the efficient functioning of medical facilities and the provision of high-quality patient care. As a Healthcare Assistant, the primary responsibilities involve direct patient care, including assisting with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and feeding. Collaboration with nurses and physicians is integral, as the assistant supports medical procedures, administers medications, and observes and reports any changes in patients’ health. Accurate record-keeping, effective communication with patients and the healthcare team, and the maintenance of a clean and safe environment are key aspects of the role. Healthcare Assistants also play a role in patient education, providing information on medications and self-care practices. Qualifications typically include completion of a certified healthcare assistant training program, a high school diploma or equivalent, and often, basic life support (BLS) certification. In a full-time position, Healthcare Assistants contribute significantly to the overall patient experience, working collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure the well-being of individuals under their care.
